Welcome to Oldknow Junior School
We are pleased to welcome you and your children to our school. We are a highly successful school, committed
to serving our community and ensuring that all of our young people are destined
to achieve their goals and make a commitment to lifelong learning.
We
will provide an environment where bullying is seen by all to be unacceptable,
but where courtesy and good manners are promoted and where pupils are able to
learn self-discipline and consideration for others.
We
are committed to pupil-centred learning which focuses on the needs of
individuals. We believe that all pupil
achievements should be recognised. Great
emphasis is placed on celebrating achievement and promoting responsible
behaviour whenever possible. Awards
recognise effort and achievement. Many
certificates are given in recognition of consistent effort and participation in
the academy community.
We
strive to provide a climate which enable children to achieve high academic
standards, to develop an understanding of self and others and to care about the
world in which they live.
Our
school offers pupils small class sizes, a strong ethos with highly qualified
and dedicated staff that believe in supporting the development of successful,
well-rounded children who will become positive members of the community.
Our
school priorities centre around the requirements of the National Curriculum and
wherever possible, programme of work draw upon and value the child's own
contribution and experience in a relevant and meaningful way. It is also important to us that each child
has the opportunity to develop a positive awareness of life in a multi-cultural
society.
Rules
are kept to a minimum, but those that do exist are developed in partnership
with the children and are intended to support and make for a harmonious, safe
and peaceful school where, above all, self-discipline and concern for others
are seen as important factors in social development.
Below
are some of the things that we have done to take your views into account:-
·

·

·

Oldknow
Academy will recognise, inspire and develop the potential of each and every
person who walks through its doors, empowering them with the confidence for
life-long learning and a readiness to play a positive role in the
community. There is the opportunity to
become young leaders of the whole Academy by becoming prefects, monitors and
play leaders, helping pupils to develop their life skills.
We
look forward to continuing working with you to provide a high quality education
for your children. We believe the more
you get involved with our school, the more you will be able to help your child
to have a successful time with us. It is
important that you, as parents, praise your child for successes, encourage
effort and take a genuine interest in all your child does.
We
thank you for sharing your child with us and together we can make a real
difference and create happiness, success and fulfilment and give your child the
very best at Oldknow Academy.
