\u00a0Technology covers a wide range of resources including; web-based and mobile learning. It is also important to recognise the constant and fast-paced evolution of ICT within our society.<\/p>\n

Whilst exciting and beneficial both in and out of the context of education, much ICT, particularly web-based resources, are not consistently policed. All users need to be aware of the range of risks associated with the use of these internet technologies.<\/p>\n

At Kingsthorne, we understand the responsibility to educate our pupils on e-safety issues; teaching them the appropriate behaviours and critical thinking skills to enable them to remain both safe and legal when using the internet and related technologies, in and beyond the context of the classroom.<\/p>\n

We aim to visit the importance of ESafety regularly with the children.\u00a0 Each year the children will complete an Online Safety unit, where the children will learn how to safely use technology and what to do if they come across content that makes them feel uncomfortable.\u00a0 In addition to this the children also have regular National Online Safety assemblies, where we revisit key issues and also have regular parent workshops, so that we can share how best to support children to use technology in a safe and effective way.<\/p>\n

E-Safety encompasses internet technologies and electronic communications such as mobile phones as well as collaboration tools and personal publishing. It highlights the need to educate pupils about the benefits and risks of using technology and provides safeguards and awareness for users\u00a0to enable them to control their online experience.<\/p>\n

The school\u2019s e-safety policy operates in conjunction with other policies including those for Pastoral Care and Data Protection.<\/p>\n
