Dear Parents,

It’s the first official homeschool day on Monday. Here is an example of what the day could look like. This is just an example, and each family if different and will plan out their days to suit everyone involved.

Please note, although the staff are preparing all this learning material please do not feel it all needs to be done. It would be great if the children can do some of this but we recognise that home learning may cause some issues and tensions. The work we are settling is there to give you and the children ideas. If it starts to cause problems please back off a bit – this is a tricky for the children and what they need more than anything is reassurance and time with their parents. You can always try again another time if they resist. Some of the online platforms may encourage them a bit more. Otherwise, involve them in what they want to learn about and let them lead the way in creating their own learning plan. Or just sit and cuddle up with a book or play a game together.

If you need any help or advice – just get in touch.

Example Plan for the day:

Reading / English: Go to Class Dojo to see what activity has been set by your teacher.

11.00am: Snack Time: Grab a good healthy snack and have a big glass of water – keeping healthy and hydrated is really important.

11.30am: Maths: Go to Class Dojo to see what activity has been set by your teacher.

12.30pm: Lunch: Make your own or help a grown up to do it. This is a good chance to help out and get involved in preparing your own food; remember everyone needs to work together – don’t just leave it to a grown up!

1.30pm: Theme Time: Take a look at the activities available for our whole school theme: Space. Choose one to complete or do one of your own. We will be putting more activities on during the week so keep checking back. The link to this will be shared on Class Dojo during the day tomorrow.

2.30pm: Tech Time: Access some online learning – for example Times Table Rockstars. You will access to a few more online learning activities once you have picked up your new home learning packs from school on Tuesday (or had these delivered to you if you can’t get out!).

3.30pm: Snack and another big glass of water.

3.45pm: Help around the house. Ask a grown up what you can do to help.

4.00pm: Chill time: Catch up with some TV or play a game.

Remember to upload any work to your portfolio on Class Dojo. For those who can’t do this yet – don’t worry, there is information on how to do this in your home learning pack and a super help video will be coming soon too!

Wishing you all well. And remember: show kindness to yourself and each other.
