We created our very own volcanoes in the classroom last week. We began by using newspaper to create a 3D cone shape similar to that of a volcano. We used a plastic bottle for the main vent and filled this with warm water, fairy liquid, bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and a few drops of red food colouring! This really helped us to create a realistic eruption. It was great fun and we had a scientific discussion about the chemical reaction that took place between the vinegar and the bicarbonate of soda.
