This week Charlie Bumble has asked for our help again! He has finally reached his mystery island and, when he arrived, was welcomed with delicious food from the native people. This food was called – Smaltons! He had never heard of them (neither had we!) and he asked them for a recipe. Unfortunatley, the recipe was written in mathematical code because it was top secret information! We had to work together in groups to work out the code, change the measurements from non-standard units such as scissors and cubes to standard measures of grams and centimetres for the real recipe and then follow the instructions to make the Smaltons ourselves. We managed to do this and they tasted delicious! Charlie Bumble was so grateful for our help and is looking forward to making them for himself one day. Counting out the cubes Using the balance scales 7 scissors worth of flour Finding out the weight of the flour in grams Gradually adding gram weights until it is equal Solving mathematical problems to find the real answers Our finished Smaltons!
